Can you access www.DayofSilence.org on your school computers?

ACLU’s Don’t Filter Me Project

Did you know that it’s illegal for public schools to use their web filtering software to deny students access to positive, affirming information about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues while allowing access to anti-LGBT websites? The American Civil Liberties Union’s LGBT Project, along with the Yale Law School LGBT Litigation Clinic, is asking public high school students throughout the U.S. to check out your high school’s web filters to make sure you’re not being blocked from information you have a right to have!

CLICK HERE to learn how to check and report on your school’s filtering.

Did you know that your school doesn't have to give you access to computers, and almost all schools that do provide computers for their students only allow students to use the computers after they have signed a paper that basically says that the school can arbitrarily bock any website it chooses to block?

That seems a little bit harsh. I actually didn't know this. Besides, there are certain legal things that override anything they make you sign, I'm sure.

Did you know that you cannot sign away basic rights like the freedom of thought, association or expression and that no matter what EULA/TOS your school makes you sign, it is not enforceable when it contravenes the law?

Did you know your pedantic approach to trying to be clever only makes you look like a jackass?
